TECHNOLOGY CLUB - FOYLE HOSPICE

 

Our Technology Club embarked on a fundraising project in December which challenged them to design and manufacture packs of personalised laser-cut Christmas decorations that could be ordered through the school office or purchased during the evening performances of our musical production 'Oliver'.

Pupils, led by our Technology technician Sandra O'Donnell, worked after school fulfilling orders and preparing for school show sales during after-school sessions, break, and lunch.

A fantastic effort that resulted in £525 being donated to their nominated Cancer charity, Foyle Hospice.

Our new Yr. 8 pupils had a fantastic team building experience at Woodhall Outdoor Learning Centre to begin the new school term.

GCSE RESULTS 2025

Record Breaking Results

Students and staff came together with families to celebrate another year of ‘Record Breaking’ GCSE success. This summer, 95% of students achieved five or more GCSEs at grades A*–C, while 82% achieved this benchmark including both English and Maths. These excellent results highlight the commitment of students and the dedication of staff in supporting them throughout their studies.

This year’s strong results were shared by many, with Aoife Lavery, Dylan McWilliams, Pearse Murphy, Leanne O’Neill, and Sarah McCormick among those celebrating impressive personal achievements.

 

Acting Principal, Mr. McMullan said: “The results we are celebrating today reflect the hard work of our students. They have embraced every challenge and should take great pride in what they have achieved. I would also like to acknowledge the role of our staff and the encouragement of families, whose support has been central to this success. Our Year 11 pupils have also achieved excellent results in their GCSE modules, giving them a strong foundation for Year 12.”

 

He added: “It is wonderful to see so many of our Year 12 students choosing to continue into A Level study with us and we warmly welcome applications from new students who wish to join our thriving Sixth Form.” Prospective Sixth Form students from all schools are invited to arrange an interview with a member of the Senior Leadership Team to secure a place in our Year 13 cohort for 2025-26.

A LEVEL RESULTS 2025

There were smiles all round on results morning as our A2 students celebrated with staff.
This year’s achievements were fantastic:
• 54% of grades were A*-A
• 76% were A*–B
• 95% were A*–C
 
Our top performer for 2025 is Lisa-Marie Cassidy 2A* A, with brilliant results also from Shannon Gallagher 2A* 2C, Sinead Lavery, Tronhan Lynch, Bobbie McGrellis, and Colleen Mullan who all obtained 2A* B, and Aoife Kelly who achieved A*,A,B.
 
Acting Principal, Mr. McMullan said, “These grades are a credit to our students’ hard work and the dedication of our staff at St. Patrick’s. It’s rewarding to see each student moving forward with confidence, whether that’s to university, apprenticeships, employment or FE Colleges.”
Our students are heading into exciting futures, from studying Radiotherapy, Nursing, and Games Design to
pursuing careers in Criminology, Communication Adveretising & Marketing, Teaching, and more.
 
A special word of congratulations to our AS students who also received excellent results today, your hard work has paid off, which allows you to begin A2 studies with confidence in your ability and further potential.
 
Our top performers for 2025 are Orla Kelly and Molly Higgins each achieving A,A,A with brilliant results also from Liam Bradley, Erin McCloskey, Grace McClune, Dararose McElhinney, and Erin McGuinness who all obtained A, A, B.

   FAMILIES FIRST - AWARDS 2024   
We received the following awards at the ceremony in Belfast on June 8th.
 
WOW award - Creating a centre of Excellence in Staff and Pupils
Outstanding Pastoral Care award.
Mrs. Scullion was awarded Highly Commended in the Principal section.
Anne Mc Closkey was awarded a special recognition for 30 years service and being the heart of our school.
 
What an amazing experience we shared at the Families First Awards in Belfast last night.
It was an honour to be nominated and have the opportunity to represent our school and wider community but so special to have won and accept the 'WOW and Outstanding Pastoral Care award on behalf of all staff, pupils and parents, the support received was overwhelming. The comments submitted demonstrate beyond a shadow of a doubt that the strength of our school lies in its pastoral care system,
wellbeing programmes, mental health initiatives and promoting personal excellence for all our students,
we are so grateful for the families and children that we serve.
 
Thank you to everyone who supported our nomination and submitted comments to the judges, it was so lovely to
hear some of them read out and shared.
 
It was such a pleasure to watch Anne Mc Closkey be recognised for her 30 year service, her contribution to our school and her positive impact on our young people through her role as our Librarian. The comments of support over recent weeks have meant a great deal to her and the recognition she received last night was a fitting confirmation of what we all know about her, congratulations Anne.
