                             SUMMER 2010 EXAM RESULTS

Once again, the A-level results for Year 14 students at St Patrick’s College, Dungiven are excellent. 100% achieved Grades A* – E; with 78% of the results being Grades A – C. Both these percentages have improved since last year. Special congratulations to our top students: Bronagh Mc Closkey (A,A,B), Michaela Nicholas (A,A,B), Louise O’Hara, Sinead Mulhern and Geraldine Mc Closkey (A,B,C) and  Emma Toner (A*,A*,D).

There are some splendid results across all subjects. I am particularly pleased with the results in Double Award Health & Social Care, where 88% of the students achieved A and B Grades. In both Business Studies and ICT 100% achieved Grades A – C.

Some of our students studied A levels in our partner schools in Limavady and these results were also very good, particularly the results in Construction and French.

Our AS students also achieved excellent results. The results in Double Award Health & Social Care were particularly good, with all students receiving A – C grades.

I am delighted with these results; the students have worked very hard and I want to congratulate them. The A Level students have given themselves a solid foundation on which to build their future achievements and can go on to further study with confidence in their ability to succeed. St Patrick’s is very proud of these students and wish them every success as they begin their 3rd level education at Universities and FE Colleges. I look forward to our AS students returning in September to complete their A Level courses.

Principal

The GCSE results achieved by our Year 12 pupils were also very good, with almost 60% achieving 5 or more Grades A* - C. 40% of the pupils achieved 7 or more Grades A* - C. There were some excellent individual results: Three students achieved ten GCSE’s: Claire Mc Nicholl (5 A*, 2 A, 2B and 1 C; Louise Mc Closkey (9 A and 1 B); Cara Mc Laughlin (1 A*, 2A, 5 B and 2 C). These three girls are back studying AS Levels in St Patrick’s. In fact, we have a record number of students returning to Year 13.

I would also like to take this opportunity to publicly acknowledge the tremendous work and effort of our staff in contributing to these results and thank them sincerely on behalf of our parents and myself.
