                                 RELIGIOUS EDUCATION

In our Catholic school the Religion department plays a key role in helping pupils to know and understand religious beliefs, practices and concepts and also respect the right of others who hold beliefs different from their own.

Pupils in Key Stage 3 follow the new ‘Fully Alive’ catholic religious education programme.  Pupils learn key Christian teachings about God and are introduced to the bible.  They explore the Christian church, its worship and prayer and examine the beliefs of two denominations. They also study at least two of the main world religions.

In Key Stage 4 pupils are offered GCSE, the syllabus includes the study of Christian life and the gospel of Mark as well as aspects of morality and Christian lifestyle and behaviour.  They can choose to follow a long course or a short course at GCSE level.
