PRINCIPAL'S WELCOME

Welcome to St Patrick’s College website. Our school was opened in 1962 and has a wonderful history of serving this community over the past five decades.
At St Patrick’s College we are committed to providing the very best education for all our students. We are a relatively small secondary school and we take pride in knowing each and every member of our school community. Our staff work hard to provide a meaningful education to every student. We work together on school and individual improvement.
St Patrick’s College enjoys invaluable support from parents and the local community. It is through these partnerships and relationships that we provide the environment for our students to learn, grow, build skills and friendships that will last them a lifetime.
Our success is based upon the combined efforts of our excellent teaching staff and supportive parents. I thank all of you who have contributed to our success and I wish all our students every success in the coming year.
Staff and students at St Patrick’s College have begun a very exciting year in the school’s history. On 3rd September 1962, the then St Patrick’s High School first opened its doors to pupils from Dungiven and the surrounding area. Mr Lawrence Hegarty (RIP) was the first Principal and together with sixteen teaching staff, he welcomed the first 301 pupils.
While the school building may look the same, St Patrick’s has come a long way in the fifty years. More information about the past fifty years will be available soon on the History section of our website. We invite past members of staff and past pupils to contact us with their memories for inclusion in this section.
Present staff and pupils are looking forward to the special events planned this year.
Annual Prize Giving will be held on Thursday 29th September, with Guest speaker Mr Liam Begley, former pupil and teacher. This is always a very special occasion for our school, when we get the opportunity to celebrate the achievements of our students both academic and non academic.
Our school show is always a spectacular event and this year’s production will be the Sound of Music at the beginning of December.
One of the highlights of our celebrations will be the 50th Anniversary Mass on 14th February. We hope many former pupils and teachers will join us for this very special occasion.
The year will finish off with a Gala concert when we will celebrate the vocal talent of the many pupils who have passed through the doors of St Patrick’s.
More details of these and other events will be posted on our website and in the local press.
I invite you to get to know us better and please do not hesitate to contact me if you require any more information.
Thank you for visiting our website.
