                                       SCHOOL GARDEN

This year our pupils decided to plan, build and maintain a new School Garden where they hoped to grow a selection of vegetables.

This project started in late November 2009 with one of the Yr. 11 Technology classes designing and constructing the raised boxes to contain the soil. Materials for the project were very generously donated by Mr. Gerard O'Neill - Northwest Fencing.

It was decided to plant Maris Pipers potatoes in March, lettuce and scallions in May and carrots in June. It is hoped that when we return to a new term in September 2010 that the pupils can harvest the potatoes and carrots. The lettuce and scallions are a firm favourite with passing Teachers who like to help themselves.

A group of Yr. 8 pupils helped with weeding, watering and planting in mid June.
